Scripture

The sacred book, the holy scripture, written by sacred writers that were guided by the Holy Spirit. What was written constitutes the Word of God. The Bible is the final authority.

The Church

Church is used in the Bible to refer to an assembly of people. It is a gathering of people who follow a particular set of beliefs and practices. Christian churches gather with one another on a weekly basis. A Christian church is a gathering of Christians where they come together to worship God. Christianity has many different denominations which are all considered churches, but not all churches are the same. Church discipline makes no sense without this practice. A church is a building where people come to learn about Christianity and worship God.

Holy Living

Holy living is the act of giving ourselves a new focus in our lives. It helps to make life more meaningful and purposeful. Holy living is a lifestyle that emphasizes love, compassion, and service and is the belief that all people deserve to live a life of love. Jesus Christ is our greatest example of holy living. His life was a model for how to live as an individual and how to approach life as a whole. We follow Jesus and be pure for God's purposes. Holy living is our way to show we are following Christ and trying to live a holy life.

The Judgment

The Judgment is the name given to the process by which all souls are judged after death. The judgments of each soul's behavior in life are based on their actions and their intentions, as well as any knowledge they have of God.

Testimonials

What the institute of the Orthodox Church means to me?

Sure one can say that you can practice your faith anywhere but for me and for the Orthodox Tewahedo Christian faith (as it is known) the ceremony of worship isn't something you do at home. Going to Church makes my faith stronger, it is where I can Pray in peace, it is where I join in fellowship with my community — who practice the same faith as me — and I can share my happiness, my worries, find solutions and find support. Since I don't work for a living I feel like going to Church and praying for my hard-working family who support me is my contribution to them. At Church, I can pray for my family to have the strength to get through the struggle of life and work — doing so gives me a purpose in life. Most of all Church is a sanctuary for our Children and our Youth especially in this troubling times. Not having a Church to go to with my Community where I am able practice my faith peace I would be lost. This is what it means to me to have a Church Institute to go to. The Orthodox Tewahedo Christianity faith has always been and will continue to be in my life.
